How does Beam cooperate with partners to determine who receives emergency aid?
At Beam, we want to make sure applicants in need of emergency support have the funds and resources they need as soon as possible. To do so, we cooperate with partners, providing them with research on basic needs challenges and emergency aid, to develop an evidence-based approach to determining aid distributions.
After applicants apply for emergency aid, all submissions are evaluated on a case-by-case basis using our research-driven, evidence-based evaluation system, as well as by the institution's Program Admins. The goal of this system is to ensure applicants demonstrating significant need will receive aid.
How do institutions use the information applicants provide? Can Program Admins view the personal or financial information applicants submit?
Program Administrators review each applicant's entire application, aggregated behavioral trends of applicants overall, award amounts, selected disbursement methods, payment frequency, and general information regarding the usage of resources.
When do I receive an update on submitted applications?
Once an application's decision has been finalized, applicants will be notified via their Beam account email. We encourage applicants to also search their email account's spam or junk folders to ensure that notification doesn't arrive there.
How do I receive the approved emergency aid disbursement?
After being notified that an application is approved, the applicant can then log in to access the claim process and accept the funds.
How long will it take to receive the claimed funding?
The time it will take for the applicant to receive their awarded funding is dependent on the disbursement method utilized during the claim process. You can read more about the disbursement methods available here.
When can I submit another application?
Program Administrators at your institution directly contact eligible applicants when a new application is available. Typically, they provide additional instructions should the program require multiple applications or if multiple programs are open.
I was rejected for emergency aid. What should I do?
While every applicant who applies for emergency aid will not be able to receive it, Beam and your institution still want to help however we can.
If you cannot apply for more emergency aid at this time, there may be other ways to receive assistance. We recommend contacting your Program Admin. They may be able to recommend other forms of support.
Also, when an institution opens a new program, they will directly contact eligible applicants, informing them to submit an application.
