What is a prepaid card?
A prepaid card is similar to a gift card. While gift cards are limited in terms of functionality to the business or industry they are procured from, a prepaid card can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted.
Note: Usio is the name of our prepaid card vendor. The name of their prepaid card product is the Akimbo Now Prepaid Card.
There are two versions of the Akimbo Now Prepaid Card we will offer:
Virtual Prepaid Card
Physical Prepaid Card
Note: When the prepaid card disbursement method is enabled by the institution, both the virtual and physical prepaid cards will be selectable options for applicants during the claim process.
Can I claim both Akimbo Now Prepaid Cards?
Yes, but the sequence here is paramount.
- Applicants are only able to request the Virtual Prepaid Card, and then the Physical Prepaid Card.
- If the applicant chooses to have the Physical Prepaid Card sent to them after activating the Virtual Prepaid Card, Usio will charge them to provide that second card.
- Since only one card can be active at a time, after the Physical Prepaid Card is requested, the Virtual card will be deactivated instantly.
- If the applicant chooses to have the Physical Prepaid Card sent to them after activating the Virtual Prepaid Card, Usio will charge them to provide that second card.
- Applicants can not claim the Physical Prepaid Card and then the Virtual Prepaid Card.
